Are you Very Nervous to Come See the Dentist?

We understand that many patients experience  dental anxiety which keeps them from visiting a dentist.  Some have experienced a dental situation in the past that was very negative and worry now about what will happen in the dentist’s chair even before they arrive. Others struggle with discomfort of their gag reflex or their inability to sit still for extended periods of time. Whatever the reason, Dr. Lenny Slepchik in downtown Montreal is pleased to offer sedation dentistry to make patients feel at ease during their visit. One of our most popular sedation methods is using  Nitrous Oxide.

What is nitrous oxide?

Also known as inhalation sedation, this form of sedation works quickly and wears off just as fast. Nitrous Oxide, an odorless and colorless gas, is administered to the patient through a mask placed over the nose. Patients  breathe in through their nose to feel pleasantly comfortable and relaxed in the dental chair. Some patients will fall asleep with Nitrous Oxide, while others feel giddy. This is how Nitrous Oxide became known as “laughing gas.” You are completely awake and can speak with Dr. Slepchik and his assistant if you wish.  It simply allows you not to focus on the sounds of the dental drill and relax. We often suggest that you listen to music during your appointment and will offer you our noise reduction headphones for your comfort.

Am I a good candidate for nitrous oxide?

Nitrous Oxide is a highly desirable option for patients in the downtown Montreal area who are looking for a way to enjoy their dental visits, not dread them. Not only can they help patients who have dental anxieties, but they can also be used for patients who have overly sensitive teeth, a bad gag reflex, a low pain tolerance, or even long dental appointments.. We encourage patients who are interested in sedation to ask Dr. Lenny Slepchik about it.  We want all of our patients to have a positive experience. in our practice, and using sedation can defintely help !
