What Can You Expect From your Dental Cleaning

If you can’t remember the last time that you had your teeth professionally cleaned and examined, it’s probably time to make an appointment for your dental cleaning and examination.  Dr. Slepchik encourages his patients to keep their cleaning and examination appointment  to help fight off cavities, check for gum disease, and examine your overall oral health. Since it’s been awhile since you came in to see Dr. Slepchik, this article will go over a few things that you can expect from your dental cleaning appointment..

Dental Examination

Usually, one of our dental hygienists will perform an initial dental examination which will then be reviewed by Dr. Slepchik at the end of this appointment. During the dental examination, the hygienist will check for gum disease, oral cancer, cavities, cracked teeth, and other dental issues that you may have.

Dental Cleaning

After your teeth have been examined, your dental hygienist will then perform your teeth cleaning. If you are uncomfortable at any moment during your dental cleaning, please let your hygienist know; it is our priority to make sure that all of our patients feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible throughout their visit. Also, if you are nervous about this appointment, the best thing you can do for yourself is to TELL US. We have many tools in our office to help our nervous patients.

Meet With Dr. Slepchik

If everything looks normal, Dr. Slepchik will come in to chat with you for a bit. If, however, you need to schedule another appointment to treat an oral health issue, then Dr. Slepchik will come in and talk to you about that.

According to the Canadian Dental Association (CDA) it is usually recommended that patients get their teeth cleaned every six months, but that  varies from patient to patient. Patients that have periodontal problems may be asked to return in 3 months.  Every patient is different.  During your next dental examination, he will be able to discuss this with you in detail.
