The many benefits of porcelain veneers

A very popular esthetic treatment requested at our downtown Montreal office is porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers improve your smile and boost your self-confidence by hiding common imperfections in the front. Dr. Lenny Slepchik will discusses the advantages of this treatment and how it can be used to improve your smile tremendously along with your self-esteem!

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic treatment used to improve the appearance of your smile. They are thin, porcelain shells that are bonded to the front of your teeth. Porcelain veneers are often used to disguise common imperfections near the front of your smile, such as chips, cracks, and staining.

Some benefits of porcelain veneers include:

  • They will improve the colour, shape, and size of your teeth.
  • They are stain-resistant.
  • They can last 15 to 20 years or more with a good home oral hygiene routine that includes twice-daily brushing and flossing.
  • They are a non-invasive way to improve your smile.
  • They are very durable and can withstand everyday wear and tear.
  • They are easy to care for with regular brushing and flossing.
  • They look very natural and are customized to your specific needs.

What is the process required to place your porcelain veneers?

The process of getting your porcelain veneers generally takes two appointments. During your first appointment, Dr. Lenny Slepchik will assess your teeth and gums, discuss your wishes, make recommendations and take the necessary measurements to ensure your veneers are customized to your smile. He will also remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth to make room for them. A temporary set of veneers will be placed on your teeth so you will feel comfortable doing your regular activities. This is your trial smile that allows you to see what your veneers will look like. You will make notes on what makes you happy when you look in the mirror, and what may need to be adjusted before cementing the final version of your new smile. You may return for a short appointment to discuss the changes you  want or address any questions you may have.

Your next appointment will involve the permanent placement of your porcelain veneers. Dr. Lenny Slepchik will remove the temporary veneers and bond the permanent ones in place. He will also make any final adjustments to ensure they fit perfectly.
